“Passion. Revenge. It’s in the blood”
A modern adaptation of Bram Stoker’s classic novel adapted and directed by Owen Phillips. This fast paced, exciting physical theatre piece is the re-imagining of a modern day Dracula and will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Sent by his firm on business to Eastern Europe, for his first property deal, had not been what Jonathan Harker had been expecting. Nevertheless, intrigued to meet his client introduced only as ‘The Count’, Harker decides a short break from his fiance? Mina would be no great hardship. After all what’s the worst that could happen?
Yet ‘The Count’s’ seductive calm and controlled exterior hides his insatiable lust for power and greed. After becoming his prisoner – Harker must escape back to England to protect Mina, yet finds her changed – not the sweet girl he left but finds her increasing more and more like his sadistic captor. The drug fuelled, debauched, horror that had befallen him, will haunt Harker for the rest of his days and lead to the murder of his once friend- Dracula.
Ribcaged’s version of Dracula is compelling physical theatre with a gripping story. In the present day, Dracula is presented as a drug dealer, consumed with selling his mansion and moving to England. The story revolves around Harker’s hatred for the seductive lifestyle Dracula provides whilst away from home. In his drug fuelled ramblings he becomes convinced that Dracula is possessed, a vampire – preying upon his victims with a desire to draw their blood. After Mina’s sudden death, Harker hunts ‘The Count’, accompanied by religious preacher and zealot, Van Helsing, determined to have his revenge.
